Artist's Statement
For the past seven years, I have been fascinated with capturing the delicate impressions of nature in my art practice. I allow my hands to take over, to create something of full functionality because I enjoy the satisfaction of people interacting with my work. I use life as the center of my creative process to emphasize the ornate complexity of their natural forms. My every intention is to engage the viewer/user on many different levels, allowing complete freedom of interpretation and the viewer's relationship to our surroundings or environment.

With this specific installation, I have created a form for first-generation students to answer with their answers are recorded anonymously; one of the questions from the form and answers are below. For those who have responded I have added their initials to a butterfly that is a part of the installation.

To be first-generation is to be resilient and motivated and for me, it was always an accomplishment that wasn’t just mine but for my parents (who sacrificed a lot for my siblings and myself) and siblings (so they know they can do it too).
