Ceramics
While working with clay I like to start off not knowing what I am going to make allowing a moment to get lost in the material allowing my hands and the clay to take over, to create something full of functionality. I am drawn to creating more practical pieces because I enjoy the satisfaction of people interacting with my work. Starting off by thinking if I would like to throw a single-color clay or agateware. Agate wear is two different colors of clay wedged together creating a marble effect. I am drawn to agateware, mainly because I believe it represents the two different entities working together in co-existence. The more the clay is worked into each other the more it becomes clear of their autonomous beauty. I use Nature; flowers, leaves, bark, and shells at the center of my creative process to emphasize the ornate complexity of their natural forms.
